Why choose to be a gritty dad?

I’ve been through hardships my whole life. I used to blame this fact on the circumstances of my childhood, then I blamed it on the world, then on my wife and kids. It wasn’t until I really dug in to it that I realized that most of my hardships were my own creation.

Too many people in this modern age, do the same thing. They blame bullies, they blame mental health, they blame physical health, they blame anything they can. I’m not insensitive to these things, they are very real obstacles in life, but the fact is that with true control of our willpower we can overcome these obstacles in life. We gain control of these things through one tool: GRIT.

Grit is our own ability to dig deep and push through the worst that life throws at us. You can grow this tool by hardening your mind and body. By growing your grit you can face harder challenges than you ever thought possible. You may still blame certain things for your troubles, but they won’t have any further power over you. If you dig down and harden your grit.

So I hope you take the time to read and follow my blog by subscribing down below and I will fill it with stories of the things I have personally had to overcome on my path to being a better husband, father and man.

grit, determination, perseverance, challenge, forever gritty

I had become a man that blamed all of my employees, my wife, my kids and anyone else that pissed me off each day, … Continue reading Grit and love

How I managed to change who I was into who I am now is important to showing why I feel I have any right to give advice on not giving up and the importance of hard work, for sure. But for you to truly appreciate how far I’ve come, I’ve got to go back to … Continue reading First lessons
  • In the Trenches
One of my favorite philosophies for getting through things comes from my time in the fast food industry. I learned a lot during that time, probably more than I learned at any of my past jobs. I definitely started to realize what hard work really took. I could tell you about the day I worked … Continue reading In the Trenches
  • Losing it
So I keep talking about grit, but what is it. There’s many ways to define it, but to me, it’s our ability to deal with tough situations and keep moving forward. It’s our ability to not quit when it looks hard or even impossible. In a word, it’s stubbornness. Some people would say that how … Continue reading Losing it
  • Running to Happiness
It wasn’t long after I started making all those horrible choices, that I about made the worst one. I was ready to quit my marriage, I didn’t care who got hurt. I was so angry at everything that none of it mattered anymore. My employees were dropping like flys because of my weakness, my kids … Continue reading Running to Happiness
